The pattern consists of yellow or blue cartouches with four pairs of small leaves alternating with white stars.

Two different types of palmettes on three vertical axes point in alternate directions. Between them horizontal angular palmettes point to the centre. Blue and yellow palmettes have white and yellow or blue and red petals respectively, drawn with brown dots and are linked by a white vertical stem. Alternate rows of blue and yellow palmettes with white and brown petals and a row of white dotted leaves with a yellow and dark blue flower separate the palmettes. Small flowers and leaves are scattered over the field.

A large star between four palmettes. Diagonal cartouches with arabesques fill the spaces between the ornaments. The central vertical palmette is yellow and contains a dark yellow rosette. A large white star with a rosette in brown, yellow and red with radial blue and yellow palmettes is outlined in yellow. The brown diagonal cartouches are outlined in yellow and contain white and yellow rosettes with four pairs of blue leaves and end in white arabesques outlined in red and with four small palmettes between them. The pattern is repeated throughout the field, changing direction from row to row.

The main axis has a central star and yellow and blue palmettes which contain smaller palmettes in reversed direction wit blue, purple and red, or white and dark blue petals respectively. The palmettes change direction with each row and are joined by yellow and green stems into a diamond shape around a yellow star with a dark blue rosette and radial small palmettes with yellow, blue and red petals.

Floral carpet (red ground), late 18th century, Khanate Period, Kuba or Baku Region, Azerbaijan. Türk ve İslam Eserleri Museum, Istanbul. Acquired 30 January 1936. inv. no 860 (1-715) from the Evkaf Depot at Istanbul, 150 x 308 cm. The central axis is formed by a narrow yellow stem. Stems which join from both sides carry purple, yellow, dark blue, white and dark yellow palmettes, outlined in brown. Small rosettes and leaves are scattered over the field.
