A Kuba or Karabagh carpet, 18th century, Azerbaijan.

A floral carpet. Southern Caucasus 18th century. Washington, Textile Museum. This specimen exhibits a variant of the third floral motif, with minute elements crowded next to one another. The in-and-out palmettes a recognizable Persian influence. Note the sunburst shape of the palmette resting on a light background. The main border is decorated with a flowering shoot on a typical light ground. Enza Milanesi, "The Carpet", p. 119
