Harshang Pattern floral carpet (dark blue ground), late 18th century, Khanates Period, Azerbaijan. Türk ve İslam Eserleri Museum, Istanbul. inv. no 730  (3051) from the Mosque of Haci Cafer Efendi, Erzurum, Turkey. 260 x 550 cm. published Serare Yetkin's "Early Caucasian carpets in Turkey", plate 92. A large star between four palmettes. Diagonal cartouches with arabesques fill the spaces between the ornaments. The central vertical palmette is yellow and contains a dark yellow rosette. A large white star with a rosette in brown, yellow and red with radial blue and yellow palmettes is outlined in yellow. The brown diagonal cartouches are outlined in yellow and contain white and yellow rosettes with four pairs of blue leaves and end in white arabesques outlined in red and with four small palmettes between them. The pattern is repeated throughout the field, changing direction from row to row.
