Antique Gendje Fakhraly (Fachralo) rug, late 19th century

Code: GJF01

Size: 104x197cm

Size (ft): 3'4"x6'5"

Structure: wool pile, ivory wool warps and red wool wefts.

Knots: Gördes (Turkish, symmetrical)

Description: Four hexagonal medallions with latch-hooked surrounds and concentric hooked-diamond interiors are distributed the length of an indigo blue field, this sparsely embellished with cruciform devices and small floral forms. An colorful palette and attractive design make for a highly decorative Gendje employing a similar graphic approach to the example illustrated by Richard Wright. Good condition throughout.
