MEASUREMENTS

DESCRIPTION

This charming carpet fragment of harshang design still retains an extraordinary richness of colour and clarity of line. A comparable complete carpet was sold at Sotheby's, London, The Robert de Calatchi Collection of Fine Oriental Rugs and Carpets, 4 October 2000, lot 81.

In this example attention should be drawn to the design variation of the main border which transforms from a stepped palmette into a meandering vine.
