Lot Notes
A similar example of this rare group of Caucasian Prayer rugs is illustrated in Eberhart Herrmann, Seltene Orientteppiche VIII, Munich 1986, pp.112-13 and bears the date AH 1232 1816-17 AD. Another example can be found in Heinrich Jacoby, Eine Sammlung orientalischer Teppiche, Leipzig 1923, p.46, pl.40, and is either dated 1221 AH 1806 AD as he writes, or AH 1261 1844-45 AD which we think is more probable.
