Nagel Kazak rug in a red ground, mid 19th century, Kazak Uyezd, Western Azerbaijan


Lot 107, an interesting 19th century Kazak, (Illustration 6) 205x130cm; with three hooked octagonal medallions rendered in green/white/green in a pattern seen in Star Kazaks in the red medallions flanking the blue central star (see Tschebull, Kazak, front cover). The red field bearing many small elements surrounded by a yellow main border. The rug has dark blue wefts.
