General/Historical Information: The big medallion which was used on this carpet is peculiar to decoration of medieval Islamic books. The hooks arond the medallion is peculiar to Kazak region carpets.
Art Analysis:
The big medallion is called "Heykel" by old carpet makers, which means Statue or
monument, or simply figure. It is considered that the medallion is in the shape
of a human being. The same kind of carpets are made in Barda, Karabagh region.
