The Virgin and Child with Saint John, circa 1490-1500
by
David Ghirlandaio (1452–1525)
National Gallery, London
David Ghirlandaio was the brother and associate of the more famous Domenico
Ghirlandaio (1449–1494), whom he long outlived. A few works have been recognised
as his, but his independent identity as an artist has only recently been
reconstructed.
