Shirvan A green-ground orduch shield medallion dominates the red field of
this carpet from the Shirvan region. The corners are accentuated by blue
triangles outlined in yellow. The white border shows a double vine decorated
with stylised bird's heads. The orduch design is often encountered in rugs
from the Kuba region, and sometimes also occurs in the Kazak area (example
in Herrmann). Good condition, original selvedges, new overcasting on the
ends.
