Shirvan Kilim This large kilim woven in the Kuba region was purchased from Bausback by a South German collector in 1977. Five hooked diamonds framed by white surrounds with boldly stepped outlines are aligned on the central axis of the midnight blue field. The extra wide, red-ground border contains designs resembling hourglasses. Many of the design outlines have been accentuated by brocading. Similar Kuba kilims have been published by Petsopoulos and Hull. – Slight signs of wear, somewhat reduced ends, minor repairs, in good overall condition.
