A NORTH WEST PERSIAN TREE CARPET FRAGMENT
Second half 18th century
The indigo field of bid Majnun design comprising rows of a variety of colourful flowering and leafy trees, in a deep blue-green border of dense polychrome carnation sprays between golden yellow angular floral meander stripes, the lower border composite from parts of the original border and occasional additions, areas of wear and small repairs, upper stripe replaced, partial loss of outer side stripes
