Perepedil
Always of high quality, carpets of this kind are called “Herat Perepedil” on
account of their Persian Herati design. According to Kerimov, they were made
in the village of Perepedil south west of Kuba (now Divichi). The example
offered here is one of the rare sample carpets from the Caucasus – pieces
for demonstration to potential clients showing sections of field designs and
secondary borders only, but drawn to the correct scale. – Very well
preserved, including the kilim finishes.
