A KARABAGH KELLEH
SOUTH CAUCASUS, 18TH CENTURY
Of Afshan design, the shaded blue field with an overall polychrome angular
vine with palmettes, serrated floral motifs, hooked leaves and stylised
flowerheads, in a golden-yellow border of polychrome flowerheads issuing
hooked vine and delicate flowerhead motifs between ivory flowerhead and
plain stripes, both ends and sides rewoven, overall wear, slight patching
and old repair
15ft.2in. X 6ft.11in. (462cm. x 210cm.)
