Antique Bordjalou rug, so called "Sewan Kazak" rug, late 19th century, Borchaly / Bordjalou Uyezd

Sevan Kazak: A powerful, sea-green cruciform shield medallion fills almost the entire field of this red-ground Sevan Kazak. The four corners not covered by the design are decorated with four trees. The blue-ground border showing the leaf and calyx design is accompanied by two wide reciprocal trefoil borders. – The original selvedges are partially damaged, remains of the kilim finish survive at the top and bottom. Creases, low spots in the pile, heavy corrosion in the brown.
