Description: This is a fragment which belongs to a group of Safavid Vase carpets with shrub design, consisting of several famous carpets and fragments. Another fragment of the same carpet was previously in the Eric Steiner collection in Virginia. Other close examples are: Shrub carpet in Newark Museum of Art (New Jersey) 49.539, Shrub carpet in Tryon Palace (North Carolina), Sarre & Goldschmidt Shrub Carpet (formerly Terescenko-Khanenko collection, Kiev), the Mikaelov Kirman Vase carpet, the Ballard Shrub carpet in the Metropolitan Museum (22.100.76), Kirman Shrub carpet in Philadelphia Museum 1955-65-27 (Joseph Lees Williams Memorial Collection), Kirman shrubs vase carpet fragment in Textile Museum 33.3.2, Shrub carpet fragment in Brooklyn Museum (46.189.34).
