Antique 'Talish' rug with a diagonally striped field

Code: TLTR01

Age: ~1880

Size
: 105x250cm

Size (ft): 3'5"x8'2"

Structure: wool pile, ivory wool warps and ivory wool wefts.

Knots: Gördes (Turkish, symmetrical)

Condition: Localized lower pile; some repiling in places; a small hole to field; some old repairs; new selvedge, patch to upper left corner. Lustrous wool and rich palette of good old colors

Design: The field with diagonal polychrome bands containing stylised floral motifs, in an ivory ground rosette and dice main border divided by arrowhead medakhil and outer flowehead "güllü" motif minor borders, between "barber's pole" (sichandishi) stripes
