Antique Kuba Shield or 'Keyhole' design rug

Age: ~1890

Size
: 104x215cm

Size (ft): 3'4"x7'0"

Structure: wool pile, wool warps, wool wefts.

Knots: Gördes (Turkish, symmetrical)

Description: The present Kuba rug shows a double keyhole pattern also seen on other Caucasian Azerbaijani samples such as the so called Sevan Kazaks. The design is related to the design of the early Turkish Bellini or Keyhole design rugs.

Condition: Original condition. Good pile. Damaged fringes.
