Antique Caucasian rug with a pair of birds motif in a brown ground, North East Azerbaijan

Code: WKPB022

Age: circa 1870-80

Size: 115 x 200 cm

Size (ft): 4'0"x6'6"

Structure: wool pile, ivory wool warps and light red wool wefts.

Knots: Gördes (Turkish, symmetrical)

Condition: Good condition. Slightly oxidized blacks in some areas. All beautiful natural colors.

Description: This rug belongs to a subdivision of a group of North East Azerbaijan carpets with "latticed field and stylized bird motifs", woven from the early 19th century to the 1880s. Brown ground examples were produced in very small quantities.
