"Lotto" rug, XVII
century,
Western Turkey, Ushak Region, Ottoman Empire.
|
Lot: 195 Its substantially coarser weave and asymmetric field design
indicate that this Lotto, from the same private collection as lot no. …, was
made at a much later date. The extra wide border containing cartouches on a
midnight blue ground is a striking and dominant feature. – The original
finishes are missing all around, obvious signs of wear, various old repiled
sections have faded in colour.
