"Lotto" rug, XVII century, Western Turkey, Ushak Region, Ottoman Empire.


Lot: 195
Its substantially coarser weave and asymmetric field design indicate that this Lotto, from the same private collection as lot no. …, was made at a much later date. The extra wide border containing cartouches on a midnight blue ground is a striking and dominant feature. – The original finishes are missing all around, obvious signs of wear, various old repiled sections have faded in colour.
