A KARADJA RUG
NORTH WEST PERSIA, CIRCA 1890
The shaded indigo field scattered with a wide variety of flowerheads, floral motifs, stylised palmettes, lozenges and hexagons around a column of stylised hooked and gabled panels containing further similar motifs, in a shaded brick-red border of meandering delicate tendrils issuing rosettes, leaves and small buds between ivory stellar flowerhead and baton stripes, negligible loss at one end
