Antique Cloudband Kazak rug, Azerbaijan. H. Manoyan Collection.

Cloudband Kazak ("Chondzoresk Kazak"), Southwest Caucasus, circa 1880.Size:6'.8"x4'.7" (203x140 cm). The green and blue hexagonal medallions, filled with cloudbands, are positioned on a well filled red field. The human and animal figures, stars, boxes etc. Measurably add to the direct appeal of the rug. The border is of the "star and bar" or "crab" type from this area of the Caucasus. The minor blue borders are nicely abrashed. The side and end finishes are original in this fine condition example of the type.
