A HERIZ CARPET
North West Persia, circa 1890
The ivory field scattered with angular flowerheads and minor geometric motifs overlaid by an angular lattice linked by bold palmettes, in a narrow rust-red turtle-palmette and flowering vine border between pale pink and ice-blue floral meander stripes, localised areas of wear particularly at one end, small patch repair in outer border at one side, a few rows of knots missing at either ends
