Antique Daghestan / Derbend long rug with Moghan Guls, 19th century, 3'9" x 9'3", Claremont Rug Company

In this 150-year-old collector's piece, latchhook medallions of tremendously varying proportions ascend the very rare pale camel ground, delighting the eye and conveying a sense of great visual depth.  Note the unabashed joyfulness and creativity of the secondary motifs, which are seemingly sporadically tossed across the field.
