Design:
Star Kazaks have long been among the most coveted of all Caucasian rugs to modern day collectors. Their desirability, most likely caused by their powerful archaic design and their bold varied palette is heightened by their rarity. The present rug can be classified as Star Kazak type D as discussed by Hali Vol. 3, No 1 in 1980 (see Star Kazak Hali, Vol.3. No. I. 1980, pp. 17-26). The red star octagonal medallion with the archaic boat elements and six small square elements, the internal brackets of the central blue star, the arrows and the reciprocal triangle minor border in red and light blue. The main border of hooked lozenge containing four "C" shapes could be an aberration of the crab device border.

The ivory field with two large shaded brick-red hooked gabled medallions containing angular floral and geometric motifs and similar panels flanking a central similar indigo stellar panel, similar part-panels above and below, the two red medallions flanked on the diagonals by shaped light green hooked panels containing similar motifs, further minor green and light blue arrowhead shaped panels within the field, in a golden main border of linked to zig zag pattern minor borders
