The ground color of the main border is dyed with pomegranate rinds and weld (Reseda Luteola). The swastika motif of the main border was used in the 18th century Azerbaijan rugs. The motif has different names in Azerbaijan: charkh-i falak in the medieval period(wheel of life or fortune), öz (symbolizing God or divine power) in ancient times.
