Antique Shirvan "Akstafa" bird/peacocks rug

Size
: 117x260cm

Size (ft): 3'10"x8'6"

Structure: wool pile, ivory wool warps and ivory wool wefts.

Knots: Gördes (Turkish, symmetrical)

Description: The dark blue indigo field with three blue, ivory and red octagonal star medallions, each containing different motifs such as hooked swastika, diamond and "Eresh" kilim gul motifs. The medallions are flanked by stylised large birds, checkered octagons and hooked bars, various tribal motifs, human being and animal figures in an ivory border of of polychrome hooked kochanak motif main border. The shape of the birds, human being and animal figures, colors indicate an early age. Good condition, scattered small repiled areas. All natural dyes.
