A BERGAMA CARPET
WEST ANATOLIA, CIRCA 1850
The shaded rust-red field with scattered minor pendant motifs around a hooked mottled light green medallion and part sky-blue medallion both containing angular geometric centrepieces, in a lemon-yellow polychrome flowerhead and inverted arrowhead motif border between lemon-yellow vine and lilac polychrome geometric motif stripes divided by narrow spiralling vine minor stripes, good pile throughout, light corrosion in the black, selvages rebound, both end borders rewoven, scattered minor spots of repiling in localised areas
